At SPT we take the security and the privacy of our users very seriously. That’s why we’ve switched all of gametraka.com from HTTP to HTTPS. There are a lot of good reasons to switch to HTTPS, but the two most important are to prevent hackers using sniffing and phishing from attacking our users and stealing personal information and passwords.
Sniffing and phishing
Sniffing and phishing have the same outcomes but work in slightly different ways. Sniffing is when a hacker monitors unsecured connections in a public network such as a cafe or library, searching for unencrypted data which should be secure, like email addresses and passwords. Phishing is the act of spoofing, or creating a fake copy, of a website and trying to trick a user into entering their login information where the hacker may record it, and worse still have the ability to deliver malware (viruses and trojans) onto your computer without you knowing.
How does HTTPS prevent this?
HTTPS provides a secure and encrypted connection between your computer and our server. This means if you got to https://www.gametraka.com and you see the lock symbol in your address bar you can be assured of two things: any information that travels between your computer and our server is completely secure and private, and that you are viewing the real GameTraka website.
So what do you have to do?
Nothing. For our users this change should take place automatically. Any time a user tries to access gametraka.com on an unsecure connection they will be automatically redirected to a secure HTTPS connection. The site, and your access to your performaces can be uploaded and accessed in exactly the same way.
